Online casinos in Ireland: licences checked, payouts tested
Ireland's new gambling regulator licenses online betting but has not yet licensed a single online casino. Every casino below has its licence number checked on the issuing regulator's register and a timed withdrawal on record.
Online casinos Ireland players use today are licensed abroad, because Ireland has not licensed any yet. The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI), set up under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024, began licensing online betting on 1 July 2026, and its public register listed no gaming licence of any kind when we downloaded it on 27 October 2026. GRAI says applications for gaming licences, the type an online casino will need, open across 2027 and 2028. You must be 18 to play. The four casinos below hold Malta Gaming Authority licences we found on the MGA's own register, and each has a dated withdrawal test on file.
- Regulator: the GRAI, set up under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 and formally established in March 2025
- Online casino licences: none issued yet; GRAI says gaming applications open across 2027 and 2028
- Betting licences: 37 remote betting licences on the GRAI register (last updated 20 October 2026)
- Gambling age: 18
- Credit cards: the Act bars GRAI licensees from accepting them (section 165)
- Our picks: Betway 4.1/5, PlayUZU 3.8/5, PlayOJO 3.7/5 and Wildz 3.7/5, all licensed in Malta
- Fastest recorded test: PlayOJO, 4 hours to PayPal
- Help: GamblingCare.ie national helpline 1800 936 725, open 24 hours
What players in Ireland should check first
A licence you can look up
Take the company name and licence number from the footer and find them on the regulator's register. If they aren't there, the logo means nothing.
18 and verified
Every site we list checks age and identity before it releases a first withdrawal, so have your ID and a proof of address ready.
Debit, not credit
Irish law bars GRAI-licensed operators from taking credit cards, and no casino holds that licence yet. Deposit with a debit card or an e-wallet you fund from your current account.
Ireland in the terms
Open the terms and read the restricted-countries list before your first deposit. Operators change it, and a closed account is a slow way to find out.
Is online casino gambling legal in Ireland?
Adults can gamble online in Ireland, and the rules are in the middle of changing. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 was signed on 23 October 2024 and puts all gambling licensing under one regulator, the GRAI, which was formally established in March 2025. GRAI licenses in phases. Betting went first: remote betting and betting intermediary licences took effect on 1 July 2026, and GRAI said that day that applications for gaming, lottery, B2B and charitable licences would open throughout 2027 and 2028.
So no online casino holds an Irish licence yet. The GRAI register we downloaded on 27 October 2026 (last updated 20 October) listed 37 remote betting licences, 4 remote betting intermediary licences and 1 in-person betting licence, with nothing under gaming. Some of those betting licensees also run casinos. Betway Limited, for example, holds remote betting licence GRAI-0524-RB-26-0001, issued on 1 July 2026. That licence covers its betting. The casino side answers to whichever regulator licensed it, which for every site on this page is the Malta Gaming Authority.
The casino sites that accept customers in Ireland do so on licences issued elsewhere, such as Malta. We won't call any of them licensed in Ireland, and you should be wary of a site that does, because GRAI hasn't issued a single casino licence yet. An MGA licence can at least be checked: the MGA publishes a register of licensees, and if the company and number in a casino's footer aren't on it, close the tab. A search for casino online Ireland returns operator homepages, forum threads and affiliate lists side by side, and none of them replaces the register.
What the GRAI licence will mean for players
The Act already sets out what a GRAI licensee owes its customers. When remote betting licences began on 1 July 2026, GRAI listed the duties those licensees now carry: age verification, paying out winnings, a ban on giving credit or accepting credit cards, and closing an account when the customer asks. In the Act itself, section 169 limits remote gambling accounts to people aged 18 or over, and section 165 bars licensees from taking payment by credit card, including through an e-wallet loaded from one. Section 157 forbids licensees from aiming an inducement such as a bonus at a particular person or group, and lets the Minister restrict or ban whole classes of them by regulation.
Those duties come with a GRAI licence, and no casino holds one yet, so at a casino site the operator's own terms and its Malta licence set the rules you play under.
Real-money online casinos Irish players can use: our picks
Four casinos make this list. Each holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence that we found on the MGA register on 27 October 2026, each has a real-money withdrawal test on its review page, and each carries the editorial rating from our casino data file. None of the test accounts is recorded as Irish, so read the timings as a record of how the operator's cashier behaved, not as a promise about an Irish bank account.
We earn a commission when you join through the buttons on these cards, and this list only includes casinos we have that agreement with. The commission pays for the testing and doesn't move a rating or a test figure.

How we check a casino before listing it for Ireland
Three checks come before a casino gets a card here. The first is the licence. We take the company name and number from the site and look for them on the issuing regulator's register: the MGA's for the four casinos above, and GRAI's for any Irish betting licence. Second, the terms: the withdrawal rules and any fee or pending period on cashouts. Operators change their restricted-countries lists without notice, so read that list yourself before you deposit. Third comes a timed withdrawal with real money, logged on the review page with the deposit method, the amount, the identity-check time and the test period.
A casino stays off this page if its licence isn't on a register, if Curaçao or Anjouan is the only regulator behind it, or if we hold no test record for it. If you want to vet a site we haven't covered, our guide on how to check if an online casino is safe runs through the same steps.
Withdrawal times and payment methods for Irish players

| PlayUZU | MGA/CRP/171/2009 | PayPal, EUR 40 | PayPal | 9 hours | 5 hours | May 2026 |
| Wildz | MGA/B2C/1079/2025 | Visa, EUR 20 | Skrill | 10 hours | 5 hours | Feb to Mar 2026 |

Sources: the "Our test results" block on each review page, real funds, accounts not recorded as Irish; licence numbers from the MGA licensee register, 27 October 2026. Method: how we test.
All four tests paid out to an e-wallet. PlayOJO paid a PayPal withdrawal in 4 hours, and a second PayPal cashout of EUR 85 on 24 June 2026 took 4 hours 12 minutes. PlayUZU's PayPal test took 9 hours and Wildz's Skrill test 10. Betway was the slow one, 40 hours to Skrill after a 12-hour identity check. Each figure is a single test, not an average, and the identity check is logged separately (3 to 12 hours across the four), so allow for it on your first withdrawal. Our list of the fastest payout casinos we have tested sets these results against the rest of the field.
All four list Visa and Mastercard in our data file, alongside Skrill and Neteller; PayPal appears for Betway, PlayOJO and, in our test, PlayUZU. Those lists come from each operator's international cashier, and the one you see from Ireland can be shorter, so check it before you deposit rather than when you want to cash out. Our page of casino payment methods compared covers fees and timings by method.
Leave the credit card out of it. Section 165 of the Act bars GRAI licensees from accepting credit cards, and the ban covers an e-wallet topped up from a credit card. No casino holds a GRAI licence yet, so a casino cashier may still accept one, and gambling on borrowed money adds interest to any loss. Use a debit card, or an e-wallet you fund from your current account.
Real-money slots at Irish online casinos
Slots fill most of these lobbies. Our data file lists 3,000+ games at PlayOJO, 2,000+ at Wildz and 1,500+ at PlayUZU, and a bigger lobby doesn't make a better slot. The number worth reading is the RTP, the share of all money staked on a game that it pays back over millions of spins. You'll find it in the game's info or paytable screen.
Check that figure inside the game at the casino you're actually using, not on the developer's website, because some operators run reduced-RTP versions of popular titles. Our explainer on what RTP means in slots shows where to look. RTP describes the long run, not tonight's session, and no betting pattern changes it, so set the slot budget as the price of the entertainment and stop when it's spent.
Safer gambling help in Ireland
GRAI based its October 2025 awareness campaign on ESRI research that found harmful gambling in Ireland to be ten times higher than previously thought. These services are listed on GRAI's Get Help page (checked 27 October 2026):
- GamblingCare.ie, the Gambling Awareness Trust's national helpline: 1800 936 725, 24 hours a day, every day of the year
- Extern Problem Gambling (problemgambling.ie): free specialist counselling on 089 241 5401
- Gamblers Anonymous Ireland: free meetings, Dublin line 01 872 1133, with regional numbers on gamblersanonymous.ie
- MABS, the Money Advice and Budgeting Service: free debt advice on 0818 07 2000
- HSE Addiction Services: specialist treatment and recovery support through hse.ie
You can also cut off the money. GRAI's Protection Tools page lists bank gambling blocks at AIB, Bank of Ireland, EBS, PTSB and Revolut, which stop card payments that are coded as gambling, and blocking software such as BetBlocker and Gamban for websites and apps. Set a deposit limit at the casino when you register, and use its self-exclusion if a limit stops being enough. Our responsible gambling page explains each tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can you online gamble in Ireland?
Yes, if you are 18 or over. The GRAI has licensed online betting since 1 July 2026, and its register lists the licensed operators. It has not licensed online casinos yet: gaming licence applications open across 2027 and 2028, so casino sites that take players in Ireland hold licences from other regulators, such as the Malta Gaming Authority.
What are the most trusted online casinos in Ireland?
Start with casinos whose licence you can find on a regulator's public register. Our four picks, Betway, PlayUZU, PlayOJO and Wildz, all appear on the Malta Gaming Authority register, and each has a dated real-money withdrawal test on its review page. Betway Limited also holds a GRAI remote betting licence for its sportsbook.
Which online casinos in Ireland offer fast withdrawal options?
PlayOJO had the fastest test on this page: a PayPal withdrawal paid in 4 hours, and a June 2026 re-test took 4 hours 12 minutes. PlayUZU paid by PayPal in 9 hours and Wildz by Skrill in 10. All four tests used e-wallet withdrawals, and a first withdrawal can take longer while the casino checks your documents.
